Distinguished Service Award
Selfless Service
The Houston A&M Club’s Harris award for Distinguished Service has been awarded since 1957 to active club members who display dedication to and passion for continuing the Aggie traditions, and leadership, within the club or in the community. The award is based solely on service, and not monetary donations, years of participation, and/or other criteria. Many past winners of this award have gone to become president of the Houston A&M Club.
In 2007, the Board of Directors decided that a Volunteer of the Year Award should also be awarded to a Houston area Aggie who distinguishes themselves through community service volunteering each year. Nominations are made each year to the Board of Directors by individuals who participated in the Club’s many activities during the preceding year. By resolution of the Board, the awards cannot be given to individuals who are current officers and/or directors. Recognition of these awards is held at the annual meeting of the Club at the end of December each year.
